2018 Pre-Season - Wyoming

The Bulldogs traveled to Wyoming High School on Thursday, August 9th to face off against the Wyoming Cowboys.

JV
The Bulldogs JV team lost to the Cowboys 8-1. The goal by Jack Byrd was the only celebration the JV team had.

Varsity
The Cowboys were very solid in their runs to the goal but they hadn't ever met Noah Brasfield. Keeper Brasfield swatted away more shots on goal than a cowboy in a horse barn swatting flies.

The Cowboys found the back of the net in the first half but the Bulldogs defense made them work for it.

The second half changes the Cowboys made proved to be just the right recipie and kept our Bulldogs to a scoreless game.  While we played a solid 39 minutes the first half, we struggled to keep the Cowboys from scoring several goals in the second.

The final score of the Varsity game was 6-0

2018 Season Opener - Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy (CHCA)

The Bulldogs traveled to CHCA for the 2018 Season opener. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs were defeated by CHCA 3 to 1.

The only goal scored for the Bulldogs was by Junior, Andrew Ruby from an assist by Senior, Conner Oliva. Things could have been much worse for the Bulldogs had it not been for the "SWAT-A-THON" by Junior keeper, Noah Brasfield who stopped 13 attempts for points.

The Bulldogs face off at home on Tuesday evening. Check your calendars and team schedules for game times for both JV and Varsity.

2018 Season Home Opener: Batavia vs. New Richmond

If you missed last nights home opener of the Batavia Bulldogs vs. New Richmond Lions, you missed one of the most exciting games of soccer we've seen in years.

Both teams came out on fire. There was more back and forth than a tennis match but the Lions scored early. Something noticed by the crowd last night was that the Bulldogs stayed in the fight. With an amazing assist by Grant Switzer, Kegan Gadbury was in perfect position and placed the ball in the back of the goal for a 1 to 1 tie.

With only a few mintues to go Zane Cole fed Noah Patel a perfect pass and Noah booted one of the most impressive goals I've seen. From outside the box, he arched the ball in and dropped it right under the top bar, just out of reach of the Lion's keeper for a 2 to 1 lead. The crow went absolutely crazy. I hope we have video of that goal.

Keeping the Lion's to only a single goal was in thanks to Jr. keeper, Noah Brasfield with 9 saves.

It was a very physical game and aside from a few players shaken up, no one was injured.

Next week we will be at Goshen along with the Girls Varsity. Come out and support your Bulldogs soccer.

2018 Batavia vs. Goshen

In what can only be described as a tough game, Batavia lost by a score of 4 to 2 against Goshen.

We scored both out goals in the second half but it wasn't enough.

Off of an assist by Junior, Andrew Ruby, Corbin was able to put one in the back of the net. Our second goal was due to, junior, Jimmy being in the right place at the right time as Nick Oliverio shot but was saved by the Goshen keeper but Jimmy put it in off of a rebound.

2018 Batavia vs. Reading

The bulldogs traveled to Redding High School to face off against the Blue Devils. The Bulldogs were coming off of a defeat by the Goshen Warriors and many wondered how the team would do.

The Bulldogs didn't dissapoint their fans as they pulled off a 4 to 1 victory over the Blue Devils.

Goals by the Bulldogs were from Oliverio, Cowan, Oliva and Cole

Credit for the assists go to Richardson, Brown, Staggs and Oliverio

Let's not forget the tremendous job Junior keeper Brasfield did by saving 7 attempts on goal.

The Blue Devil's only goal was by Proffitt.

2018 Batavia vs. Western Brown

Well as rivalries go, this one ranks up there with the best of them. The Bulldogs traveled to Western Brown's stadium to face off against the Broncos.

This report is written by someone unable to attend but the best way to describe this match was P-H-Y-S-I-C-A-L. There were several players injured during the match and there were more yellow's being flased than a sleepy town after midnight. You know it's a rough game when your Keeper gets a yellow card.

Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, the Bronco's proved to be too much. Despite the fact that the Bulldogs were the first team to score a goal against the Bronco's this season, the Bulldogs were defeated 2 to 1.

Credit for our only goal goes to Jr. Jimmy Cowan off of an assist from Jr. Andrew Ruby.

2018 Batavia vs. Maderia

The Bulldogs hosted the Maderia Mustangs on Monday night in what could be described as the next "Mud Bowl" (See here for the 1977 Mud Bowl Minnesota Vikings against the LA Rams)(1977 Mud Bowl).

The fields were a mess and so were the uniforms of both teams after the match. The Mustangs prevailed, beating the Bulldogs 6 to 1.

The goal by Jr. Jimmy Cowan was off of a cross by Jr. Andrew Ruby and Jimmy was in the right place at the right time and put it in the back of the net for the Bulldogs only goal of the evening.

Jr. Keeper, Noah Brassfield, got a workout but swatting several attempts on goal by the Mustangs.

The Bulldogs travel to Clinton Massie tonight (please note, this is a change due to the field conditions of the Bulldogs stadium)

2018 Batavia vs. Clinton Massie

What a difference a dry field makes. The Bulldogs traveled to Clinton Massie due to the poor field conditions at the Bulldogs stadium.

It was a beautiful night for soccer and the Bulldogs walked away with a good road win of 6 to 1.

For the Bulldogs goals were scored by Richardson, who had 2. Cole, Ruby, Patel, and Sauter.

Both Cole and Staggs each had an assist.

Next up we're traveling this Thursday in a solid matchup vs. Taylor (JV 5, Varsity 7).

2018 Batavia vs. Taylor

Due to continued poor field conditions, the Batavia Bulldogs traveled to the Taylor Yellow Jackets stadium in Cleeves. It was a beautiful stadium and a beautiful night for soccer.

The stress level in the stands testified to the intense match that was played by these two teams. Batavia Sr. Corbin Richardson scored first off an assist from Jr. Brian Sauter and put the Bulldogs up 1 to nil.

That lead didn't last long as the Yellow Jackets retaliated and swarmed the Bulldogs defense and scored to tie up the match.

Back and forth with several close goals by both teams but in the end, no other goals were scored and the match ended in a tie 1 to 1.

2018 - Batavia vs. Wilmington

Both the JV and Varsity teams pulled off a victory last night at the Wilmington Hurricanes staduim. Both were very intense games and both the JV and Varstiy teams walked away with the WIN.

Stats for the varsity team includ a goal by Corbin Richardson with an assist by Andrew Ruby. There were several attempts on goal but only one found home. Kudos to the defense and a special shout-out to keeper, Noah Brasfield who recorded his first shutout with 9 saves.

Come support the team TONIGHT at home vs. Bethel. JV at 5, varsity at 7.

2018 Batavia vs. Bethel

After a tight 1-0 win against Wilmington, the Bulldogs couldn't keep pace with a heavy Senior Bethel Tigers team.

Bethel took a 2-0 lead going into half-time and scored a third goal in the second half off of a penalty kick.

Keeper, Noah Brasfield, recorded 7 saves against the Tigers but score was 3-0 in favor of Bethel.

2018 Batavia vs. New Richmond

In the rematch of our first win this season, the Bulldogs were on the home turf of the New Richmond Lions. The Bulldogs were no match for the Lions and fell apart as the Lions scored 4 goals against us.

It's time to regroup and rally for next week's Kick for the Cure match against Goshen.

Please come and support the DAWG's Tuesday, October 2nd at 5:00 PM and remember to wear PINK!

2018 Batavia vs. Mariemont

HUGE win by the visiting Bulldogs on Saturday against the #4th ranked Mariemont Warriors.

On a miserably hot Saturday the Bulldogs traveled to Mariemot and took the Warriors stadium by storm and defeated the Warriors by a score of 3 to 1.

Among the most notable events of the evening, the Bulldogs played as ONE TEAM and what a difference that type of match makes.

Junior Jimmy Cowan left the field with all three of the Bulldogs goals and a "hat trick" after being fed 3 beautiful assists by Senior Corbin Richardson.  It was a great win coming into the tournaments in the coming weeks.

Keeper Noah Brasfield kept 14 shots on goal from meeting their targets and continued to rack up save after save for the season.

2018 Batavia vs. Clinton Massie #2

The Bulldogs were in action again on Tuesday night on what turned out to be a beautiful evening for soccer.

Clinton Massie were no match for the Bulldogs as they chalked up another win leading into the tournaments of Batavia 5, Clinton Massie 1.

Goals for the Bulldogs were from the Junior Class of Cowan, Oliverio, Patel and Connelly. Senior class contributors were Oliva.

An impressive number of assits from Richardson, Ruby, Gadbury and Cole.

Noah Brasfield added another save to his growing stats this year and the Bulldogs finished strong.
