During the morning high school transportation arrival window we became aware of issues with the heating and hot water boilers not operating at the high school. As soon as we were aware of these issues our maintenance staff immediately began working to bring these systems online. In spite of a good faith effort to return the systems to normal operating status, an immediate fix was not possible. As we do not anticipate the systems coming back on line to provide heat and hot water during the school day, we have made the decision to dismiss the high school students at 9:45AM. This dismissal time was the earliest available due to bus transportation. We apologize for this unforeseen inconvenience and will provide additional communication this afternoon regarding the status of the high school heating systems. The elementary and middle school will be operating on a normal schedule today.

As of 4:30PM (Wednesday, January 17, 2018) both heating boilers and the hot water boiler at the high school have been returned to a normal operating status. The issue with the boilers this morning was a frozen pipe that was preventing the pressure expansion tank from operating correctly, which caused the boilers to shut down as a safety precaution. With the hot water heater, a failed relay switch caused the unit to not operate correctly. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding with this highly unusual set of circumstances. At this point, barring something else unforeseen, we will have a normal day of operations at the high school on Thursday.
