Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year. We are very excited to have you and your child as part of the Batavia High School family.   Every staff member has been working hard to prepare for the return of our students. We have set very high expectations for this school year and are looking forward to partnering with you to help your child succeed!  Student academic success is the main goal of every staff member at Batavia High School. We believe that every student will learn to the highest level and we are prepared to offer more time and support to every student that needs it.  Our building goal holds constant that every student have a positive and productive school year!  


We would like to welcome back all returning staff members of Batavia High School, and several new members.

Below is some important information to get everyone started out on the right foot! 

We are operating on the same bell schedule this year as last year.  School starts Wednesday August 15, 2018 at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 2:15 p.m. everyday.   Below is some additional information to get all students started on the right track in the 2018 - 2019 School Year!

School Hours:

(Students will not be allowed in the building prior to 7:00 a.m.)

 *Advisory assignments will be in the Main Student Entrance Hallway when students arrive on Wednesday. In Advisory, students will receive office forms, schedule assignments, review handbook, and attend class meetings.

BHS Freshman Orientation

BHS Freshman Orientation will take place on Tuesday August 14, 2018.  The student portion will run from 2:30-4:30, during which time students will receive their schedule, get a locker, go through vision/ hearing screening and have a multitude of questions answered and concerns addressed.  The parent meeting will be from 4:00-4:30 and will give parents an opportunity to have their questions and concerns addressed as well. We will also have the assistance available for parents who need help with the parent portal. We hope to make the transition from BMS to BHS positive and productive.  If you need additional information, please email Mr. Derickson, Principal, at, or Mr. Walt, BHS Teacher, at  We hope to see a great turnout of incoming students on August 14th  to welcome them to BHS!  


BHS Open House

BHS will be hosting an open house for all students grades 10-12 on Tuesday August 14th from 4:30-6:00.  Students will be able to meet teachers, get schedules, tour the building, apply for a parking pass, request lockers, and get set for the first day of school!  In addition, there will be a few colleges, branches of the armed forces, and businesses with informational set-ups. We will also have the assistance available for parents who need help with the parent portal. We hope to see all students and parents in attendance!    


Parking Passes:

Parking Pass applications will be accepted in the office beginning Aug. 14th.  Along with the application we will need a copy of the student’s licenseinsurance card and registration. Parking Passes are $35 per year and student must be academically eligible in order to acquire a parking pass.  All students driving will be required to have a parking pass by Sept. 1st.  In addition, students will be assigned a specific parking spot and receive a parking pass that must be viewable in his/her car. 


Student Handbook Update:

All students will receive a 2018-2019 Student Handbook and Agenda Calendar the 1st day of school.  BHS has not made any significant changes to the handbook for the 18-19 school year. Please review the entire handbook paying especially close attention to the attendance and tardy policies (13-15) and the personal technology norms and guidelines (pgs. 30-32).  Please click HERE for the link to the 2018-2019 BHS student handbook.  Again, every student will receive a printed edition in the student agendas they receive the first day of school.                   

Remember – students will not be permitted to have cell phones or tablets out any time throughout the day except for in the cafeteria during lunch. 


BHS Parent Drop-off Route 7:00-7:30a.m.

The student drop-off procedures are a little different this year.  Students will not be allowed in the building until 7:00am.  When a parent drops off his/her child, entrance and exit will be through the Batavia Elementary School entrance and exit off of Batavia Rd. Student drivers who have a parking pass will enter the same way they have in previous years at the Batavia-Williamsburg Pike (Old St. Rt. 32) BHS entrance.  After 7:30a.m., all students and visitors will need to enter the building through the front entrance. Please let Mr. Derickson or Mr. Stevens know if you have any questions.


School Fees:

The general school fee is $70.00. Remaining course specific fees will be added at the conclusion of the schedule change request window. All fees must be paid or arrangement for a payment plan with the office prior to student being allowed to attend Homecoming or any other school sponsored dances. In addition, all paperwork will be required to have been entered into the portal in order for a student to attend school sponsored events.
