My child wakes up in the morning and is not feeling well, or has a symptom listed above.  I know I should not send them to school that day, but how long should they stay home for?

First and foremost, it is critical that if your child is not feeling well that you err on the side of caution and keep them home.  The guidance below gives more specific details:

Anyone experiencing symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing and/or loss of taste and smell should stay home and contact their health care provider for evaluation and/or testing. If the individual chooses not to seek medical care, or if they do seek care and there is no alternative more likely diagnosis and COVID-19 is suspected or confirmed, the ill person should remain at home until the following criteria are met:

No fever (without using fever-reducing medication) for 24 hours, and,

Other symptoms are improving, and,

It has been 10 days since the symptoms first appeared.

To return to school, the student should be transported to school by the parent and should be checked by the school nurse/health personnel.

If an alternative diagnosis is made, the individual may return to school 24 hours after symptom

resolution with a note from their provider.

Individuals experiencing any other symptoms from the COVID-19 symptom list (fatigue, muscle or body aches, headaches, sore throat, congestion/runny nose, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea) should stay home and not return to school until symptoms have completely resolved for at least 24 hours.

I have taken my child for a COVID test, or am planning to based on symptoms s/he is exhibiting.  Can I still send them to school while waiting for the results?

Any student awaiting test results or who is symptomatic and going to get a test MUST STAY HOME FROM SCHOOL until results are in.  Once results are in, Jo Hollandsworth , our District nurse,  needs to be notified to establish a return to school plan.

These days will be counted as excused absences and students will be able to complete work online while home via Google Classroom.
