Dear Batavia School Community,
Building Project Update:
You may follow our building process by monitoring our New Building Project link on the district’s webpage www.bataviaschools.org We will also have a Facebook page dedicated to our project.
Architect:
We are excited to announce that CR Architecture & Design has been selected to design our new PK-5 building. CR Architecture & Design is a Cincinnati firm who has been involved in a number of school designs across Southwest Ohio. We will be working closely with David Arends, CEO; Christie Boron, Project Manager; and Michael Boron, Project Architect. You will find more information regarding CR Architecture & Design and their lead team posted on our webpage under our New Building Project link.
Owner’s Agent:
Megen Construction is a Cincinnati firm and has been involved in a number of school projects across Ohio. We will be working closely with Evans Nwankwo, President/CEO and Frank Regueyra, Vice-President. You will find more information regarding Megen Construction and their team posted on our webpage under our New Building Project link. The role of Owner’s Agent serves as someone who represents the district’s interest by overseeing the design/construction phases of the project.
Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC):
Our building project is jointly funded by the state of Ohio with the state paying 49% of the project. Rick Swart is the Assistant Project Administrator who will be working with our team on behalf of the OFCC.
Design Phase:
We are currently in the design phase of our project. This phase of the project takes approximately 12 months. Our current timeline for total project completion is December of 2015. In the upcoming weeks we will be sharing more information regarding this phase as well as scheduling meetings with staff and community for input.
New Entrance into High School Campus:
As part of our overall project, we included a second entrance onto our project site. This entrance will be constructed off of Batavia Road, cutting across the practice fields located behind the high school. This entrance will be constructed early and will be utilized as the construction entrance for the building project.
School Safety Update:
Middle School:
Two new sets of doors have recently been installed at the middle school to make the building more secure. The first set of doors replaced the old doors at the main student entrance into the building. The second set of doors has been installed at the entrance into the office. Now when you enter the office entrance you will be buzzed into a receiving area where you will be able to talk with the secretary through an open window. If you then need to enter the office and/or building you will be buzzed through a second set of doors.
High School:
Our project architect will be working with the district to determine how we can best redesign the front entrance to make the building more secure.
