Home opener vs. Bethel-Tate - 8/21

Both teams kicked the season off with matches against the Bethel Tigers at Holman Stadium.  In a first for Batavia Soccer, the marching band and cheerleaders were on hand to support our players.

The Varsity team came up a bit short, falling to Bethel 1-0.

Junior Varsity
The JV came away with a victory, scoring with 45 seconds left in the game to defeat the Tigers 1-0.  Miles Walsh scored the winning goal for the Bulldogs.

vs New Richmond - 8/25

The Bulldogs made their first road trip of the year traveling to New Richmond to take on the Lions.  

The varsity played hard but lost 4-0.

Junior Varsity
The JV played a spirited game cruising to a 2-0 win in a game shortened by lightning.  Nick Burke scored both goals for the Bulldogs.  The JV is now 2-0 on the season.  

vs Goshen - 9/1

The Bulldogs travelled to Goshen on 9/1 to take on the Warriors.

The varsity came out on the attack and took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Caleb Muck.  The Warriors tied the game before halftime and added another score in the 2nd half to win 2-1.

Junior Varsity
The JV played well in what turned out to be a very physical game.  They fell behind 2-0 but scored two quick goals in the last few minutes of the 1st half and almost added a third.  The score at the half was 2-2.  In the 2nd half the Warriors added another goal to win 3-2.    Caiden Helms and Ian Roll scored goals for the Bulldogs.

vs Western Brown - 9/10

The Bulldogs returned home to hose the Western Brown Broncos

It was Senior Night and Batavia honored its lone senior, Ethan King before the game.  

The Bulldogs fell behind 1-0 at halftime but mounted a comeback in the 2nd half.  Jack Bird appeared to score the tying goal about midway through the 2nd half and was fouled in the process, but in a highly controversial call, the officials waved off the goal in favor of a direct kick, which failed to go in.  Batavia lost 1-0.

Junior Varsity
The JV fell behind early 1-0 but with 4:58 left in the 1st half, Miles Walsh scored to even the game at 1-1 at halftime.  In the 2nd half, Ian Roll found the back of the net with 24:54 left in the game for a 2-0 Batavia lead.  The Broncos evened the score with about 1:45 remaining and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

vs Clinton Massie - 9/15

The Bulldogs returned to action at Holman Stadium on Tuesday, 15 September where they hosted the Clinton Massie Falcons.

The varsity came up short, losing to the Falcons 3-0.

Junior Varsity
The Bulldogs scored on a goal by Jason Hendershot with 18 minutes left in the first half.  The Falcons evened the score with just 13 seconds left in the first half and the score was 1-1 at halftime.  Clinton Massie added another score in the second half and won 2-1.  

vs Taylor - 9/16

The Bulldogs made the long road trip to Taylor High School on Saturday, 19 September to take on the Yellow Jackets.

The varsity came up short losing to the Yellow Jackets 2-0.

Junior Varsity
The JV lost 1-0.

vs Wilmington - 9/22

The Bulldogs returned to action on Tuesday, 9/22 at Holman Stadium where they hosted the Wilmington Hurricane.

The Bulldogs fell to Wilmington 6-0.

Junior Varsity
Austin Fandrey scored with an assist from Collin Moeller.  Ian Roll added another goal in the 2nd half and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

vs Lynchburg-Clay - 9/24

The Bulldogs returned to action at Holman Stadium on 9/24 to face the Mustangs of Lynchburg-Clay High School.

The varsity lost 4-0

The JV lost 2-0


The Bulldogs traveled to CHCA to take on the Falcons.

The varsity played their best game of the season, taking an early 1-0 lead on a beautiful goal by Jack Bird with 27 minutes left in the first half.  The score at halftime was 1-0 Batavia.  In the 2nd half, the Falcons scored two goals but the Bulldogs came roaring back with a 2nd goal by Jack Bird that evened the score at 2-2.  Batavia had several chances to win late in the game but couldn't quite find the back of the net.  The final score was 2-2.

The JV played a spirited game, but ultimately lost to the Falcons 3-0.

vs New Richmond - 9/29

Batavia returned home to host the Lions of New Richmond on Tuesday, 29 September at Holman Stadium.

In a game that was interrupted by a lightning delay, the bulldogs fought hard but gave up a goal with 5 minutes left in the 2nd half and lost 1-2.

Junior Varsity 
This game was played using a 9 vs 9 format due to New Richmond not having enough players.  The teams played to a 0-0 stalemate at halftime.  In the 2nd half, the Bulldogs came to life, getting goals from Austin Fandrey and Ian Roll to win the game 2-0.

vs Roger Bacon - 10/1

Both teams travelled to Roger Bacon for a pair of matches on 10/1.

The varsity lost 5-0

Junior Varsity
The JV game as a 0-0 tie going into the final 2 minutes of the game when the Bulldogs allowed a goal and lost 1-0.

vs Goshen - 10/6

The Bulldogs hosted the Goshen Warriors on 10/6 at Holman Stadium.

The score was tied 0-0 at halftime in a game marked by multiple yellow and red cards on the Goshen players and their coach.  In the 2nd half, Goshen scored to take a 1-0 lead.  Late in the 2nd half, Goshen was given a throw-in on a blown call by the officials which directly led to a penalty kick which gave Goshen a 2-0 lead, which ended up being the final score. Drew Kendrick played an awesome game in goal, stopping shot after shot.

Junior Varsity
The Bulldogs played tough and the score was tied at 0-0 at halftime.  In the 2nd half, Goshen scored to lead 1-0.  However, with 13 minutes to go in the game, the Bulldogs executed a brilliant corner kick and Jason Hendershot headed the ball into the goal to tie the game.  The final score was 1-1.

vs Western Brown - 10/8

The teams traveled to Western Brown to take on the Broncos on Thursday, 8 October.

The varsity lost 3-0

Junior Varsity
The JV lost 1-0

vs Mariemont - 10/9

The Bulldogs traveled to Mariemont on Friday, 9 October for a pair of games.

The varsity lost 8-0.

Junior Varsity
The JV lost 7-1.  Austin Fandrey scored on a penalty kick with 9 minutes left in the game.

vs Clinton Massie 10/14

The Bulldogs traveled to Clinton Massie for a game against the Falcons on 10/14.

The Bulldogs lost 2-1.  

vs Wilmington - 10/15

The Bulldogs traveled to Wilmington for a pair of games against the Hurricane on 10/15.  This was the last regular season game for both teams.

The varsity lost 5-0.

Junior Varsity
The JV played what may have been it's best game of the year to close out the regular season.  They moved the ball extremely well and played outstanding defense throughout the game.  Ian Roll scored with 22:39 left in the first half and the Bulldogs cruised to a 1-0 victory!
