Batavia High School Policies/Practices/Risk Factors Checklist:
Course Selection Process:
All students participate in individual scheduling meetings every spring.
Students engage in individual conversations and course planning with their school counselor.
Graduation plans are monitored and reviewed in each of these meetings.
Counselors review Academic Pathways options with students as they create/refine their graduation plans on a yearly basis.
SchooLinks:
Online platform that assists students, parents and educators in tracking student progression to graduation from high school and beyond.
Batavia Local Schools implementation includes grades 4-12 for a seamless career/college planning process.
All graduation plans will live within SchooLinks for easy access for all stakeholders. Plans will be monitored and revisited on a yearly basis.
Platform will also be used to identify and monitor progress for students who have Student Success Plans.
Exception to Graduation Requirements:
Exemptions to graduation requirements may be granted in the following circumstances:
A student’s health condition is so extreme that accessing an alternative pathway to graduation is not possible.
A documented mental health circumstance is so extreme that accessing an alternative pathway to graduation is not possible.
Supporting Documents:
○ Batavia Local Schools board approved Career Advising Policy.
○ Includes requirement for Student Success Plans

○ Folder containing all of Batavia High School’s Academic Pathways
○ Housed on the high school counseling website
○ Shared with students throughout scheduling process–All students grades 8-11 ○ Shared/reviewed with students in grades 9-12, through designated advisory times throughout the school year.
○ Revisited regularly throughout the school year, facilitated by teachers and counselors.
○ Batavia High School is running two periods of a credentialing lab.
○ Students have the opportunity to earn credentials for both graduation purposes and to support post-secondary employment.
