Free Meals Extended to ALL Batavia students through December
This week we received word that the waiver from last spring allowing schools to provide free meals to all students has been extended through the month of December, or until USDA funds are no longer available (whichever comes first). This means that Batavia will be able to serve breakfast and lunch to all students for free, regardless of their financial situation, beginning immediately.
Students will still be able to purchase extra entree and a la carte items in addition to their regular meal using funds from their student lunch account.
Finally, it is still critically important that families who may qualify for free or reduced price meals complete an application for this year, as families who have not applied and qualified for free/reduced price meals will revert to full pay status when this program concludes. (Note, applications are not required from families who qualify for free meals via the direct certification process).
For families whose students are learning remotely, a meal sign-up/request form will be emailed directly by the end of the week, with meals available beginning the week of September 21st via weekly pickup.
